Before diving into the world of web design, I was a ceramic artist, creating pottery for craft shows, online shops, and galleries. In fact, it was my ceramics business that first sparked my interest in graphic and web design. I needed a logo, business cards, signage, and a website—but as a “starving artist,” hiring a designer wasn’t in the budget. So, I taught myself.
Over time, my design business took off, and it became harder to dedicate time to my ceramics. Recently, however, I’ve rekindled my love for clay. After a long hiatus, working with my hands again feels both therapeutic and refreshing—a much-needed balance to all the hours spent in front of a screen.
Returning to ceramics with fresh eyes, I’m embracing experimentation. I’m exploring new clays, creating different forms, and rediscovering the joy of throwing on the wheel. It’s liberating to work intuitively, without the constraints of production-style pottery.
I look forward to sharing this creative journey and may even offer some of my new pieces for sale. Stay tuned for updates!
A selection of some of my favorite pieces from nearly two decades of working with clay. These pieces were made from stoneware and are meant to be used in day to day living.
My work is primarily functional. My hope is that my tableware become everyday objects instead of pieces that are on display.
My first body of work after college was in terracotta clay. I focused on planters to embellish the home and garden. My interest in planters continued after I made the switch to a white stoneware clay.
